Leadership Development

We work with teams to explore and understand effective leadership styles by modelling successful music groups. Our structured simulations require teams to apply these leadership styles to a variety of music based problems and identify back-to-work applications. Our programs are designed for leadership development, employee engagement and team development. Each program is customised to address the unique challenges of the team.

 

With a growing need for flexible leaders and versatile teams, we’ve replicated scenarios which necessitate adaptability and creativity. Teams combine analytical and creative skills and are encouraged to take risks, prototype ideas and reflect on their own experiences.

Creating music mirrors many of the complex challenges teams in business are faced with. Similar skills are utilized in the process and the need for effective leadership and team competencies are uncanny. We’re yet to find a human who doesn’t like music. STIX | Leadership Experience

Jazz groups break traditional boundaries by embracing change and encouraging each other to take risks. In contrast, the symphony orchestra prepares meticulously under a strict, vertical leadership structure which ensures absolute precision and accuracy in their performance. By exploring the relationship between musical genres and their leadership styles, teams can get real practical examples of how to build the perfect team for each task. Music is a product of it’s leadership and this programme is a fun and engaging way of exploring applications of leadership.

About Duncan McKee

I'm a jazz pianist, television composer & educator. I share the stage with some of the worlds best musicians.

I compose soundtracks for television networks such as HBO and The Discovery Channel and I also write for my own trio The Duncan McKee Trio and multi-cultural group Tembusu.

I'm fascinated by music and its collaborative effect on people. When I'm not on stage playing music I'm very often on stage talking about it.
